A 40th birthday cake most likely should be chocolate! My preference is dark chocolate! The cake can go along with the entire theme of the party. Or, it can stand on its own. I like really bright and decorated cakes. Other people may like a more classic type. |

One of the newest types of birthday cake ideas are actually birthday cake pops. These are so cute. Plus, they're easy to serve. They normally come in 10 or 12, so you may need to by a few boxes depending upon the size of party. This is also a great idea if an entire cake would be too much. |

A really unusual cake is not really a cake - it's a birthday flower cake. Although these cakes look real - they're real flowers! I think they are so bright and colorful. This would be a great addition to a 40th birthday. If you get one of these, I would still suggest getting a regular cake also. Just think how surprised the birthday boy or birthday girl will be when they get this birthday flower cake delivered! |
